I am available to meet with individuals, couples, families and groups who live in California. We will do this via zoom (HIPPA compliant). For these telehealth sessions each person participating must be physically located in California at the time of the psychotherapy.
I have provided thousands of hours of teletherapy sessions with individuals, couples and families. I also have thousands of hours of experience providing therapy / therapeutic support in other settings as well: private offices, emergency rooms, residential treatment centers, in-home meetings, hospital floors, disaster sites.
My first interest is to connect with each individual’s personal orientation and “way of doing things”. I’m supportive, encouraging and understanding as a basic way of relating to each person. I listen, ask some questions.
I invite each person to examine their “way of doing things”. How the impulse / orientation charges the body into action is the area of focus for most of the work. I invite clients know themselves, bring kindness to themselves, and to make small, powerful small adjustments to their embodied patterns.
I charge $200 for adult individual psychotherapy (50 mins), helping clients understand themselves and their relationships, whether with partners, children, colleagues, or within their culture. My approach addresses issues like anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, workplace problems, and family conflicts. I focus on identifying and changing patterns that affect coping and relationships, helping clients gain more influence over their emotional and relational lives.
I charge $200 for children or teen individual psychotherapy (50 mins), creating a therapeutic environment that emphasizes enjoyment, fun, and connection. Through play, children can express their emotions and experiences, especially when they feel overwhelmed and may act out or withdraw. Children often embody their emotions deeply, using them as a form of communication because they are still developing the ability to articulate their feelings with words. The play experience becomes a crucial space where they can express themselves and be understood. Occasionally involving parents in sessions, with the child's permission, helps facilitate better understanding and harmony within the family system.
I charge I charge $200 for couples or family psychotherapy (50 mins) or $300 for couples or family psychotherapy (75 mins), helping clients understand their relationships as emotional systems with patterns that interact and reinforce each other. My approach focuses on slowing down these patterns to allow new, more satisfying ones to emerge. For couples, this often means reducing reactivity and improving communication. For families, it involves helping parents guide and influence desired behaviors in their children, while also supporting their individual strengths and challenges. For adult families, this also means addressing how patterns from youth and reactivity can carry over into adulthood, especially among siblings or between parents and adult children, and healing these can lead to healthier, more supportive relationships.
I take Aetna and UnitedHealthcare insurance through the Alma platform. You can contact me on Alma if you want to use your Aetna or UnitedHealthcare insurance.
In some situations I charge for case coordination or travel. When there is a need for a lot of coordination with other care providers, or in the rare situation requiring travel, I may charge for these extra services.
I don’t prefer to be involved in any legal proceedings. I typically charge my hourly rate x 8 hours per day in situations that involve legal proceedings (preparing for court, waiting to appear in court, speaking with lawyers, delivering testimony in court, etc). I am not a forensic or disability evaluation expert and would refer clients needing that care to another provider.
I have extensive experience in multi-functional healthcare systems, and with different insurance companies and mental health delivery systems in the public and private domain. I am happy to coordinate care with referring providers or agencies.
